I have a problem with the cooling fans failing to turn off. My mechanic has pinpointed the otter switch as the likely culprit. Can someone kindly tell me whereabouts under the bonnet this component is located , please? And who/where is the best source for a replacement?

Did mine a year ago. A lot of the old red paint had already flaked off and I found the rest came away with judicious use of a scraper, only. I did try paint stripper but it turned the job messy and didn't seem to help, significantly. As Terry, I covered the lettering with masking tape, then used Hal...

A new blade from your nearest Lotus dealer will set you back £40. However, I have bought blades fom Halfords in the past but, to fit them, you need a separate pin to go through the hole in the blade and click onto the arm. Last time I looked in Halfords none of their blades came with such a pin but,...

Because of the glass fibre body, many electrical "faults" on these cars are down to poor earthing, so this is generally my first port of call. The pop-up lights on the elite/eclat, however, are not electrically driven; they are vacuum driven and notoriously unreliable. Each "pod" has a valve behind ...

Tyre Choice

I have also gone for the 205/50s on my SA (Dunlop SP Sports). I have had them for two years now and am well satisfied. The car feels nimble and very responsive with them. The only concern I had at the outset was whether, with a fractionally reduced ground clearance (about 0.5cm), the car would be ev...

Which Exhaust??

The exhaust on my 1987 SA is, I believe, supposed to be a Grundy system. However, when I needed to replace it, it was a S/S Peco-compatible system from Christopher Neil that fitted! Apart from the colour(!!!) does anyone know what the practical differences are between the two systems? (Iam wondering...

Suspension problems

Has anyone else had this problem? If I gun my Excel hard and, particularly, if the road is a bit undulating, I get a spasmodic rubbing sound from the rear as though the tyres are making contact with the wheel arch (I am running on 205/50*15 SP Sports). Does this mean my rear springs are shot? John L...
