Re: Issues with dash instrument dials

It may be worth taping a small sachet of silica gel crystals (often found in packaging of electrical goods) inside the instrument case if you go as far as removing them. Condensation of any water vapour in or around the instruments will occur if the glass is colder than the vapour. Another solution ...

Count me in also. As you may remember, 1981 X registered Essex Blue Automatic, first owner Sir John Junor (then Editor of the Sunday Express). Should be finished by then! :?

Re: Glass roof Elite

Let me check with Lotusbits next time I'm there (sometime next week)...they have (or recently had) an Elite with a Riviera roof and we could look at what it would take to reproduce the cutout on a standard car. If I can get a rough price out of them for the work and a quote for making glass panels t...

Re: Glass roof Elite

Hi Simpatico, I've not been on the forum for a few days. Your summary of the sunroof situation is excellent. The attraction of the Riviera roof is that it is a full width panel, not a cutout. I'm certain that Pilkington (or someone similar) could make a glass panel using the fibreglass panel as a te...

Re: NEC Classic Motor Show : 15-17 November 2013

I'd like to say a big thank you to Angus for organising the show stand - its easy to underestimate the effort that goes into this sort of thing - and to those who brought their own vehicles. I was particularly impressed to be parked next to Leigh's Elite which was the original for the Spark model I ...

Re: Hello from a newish Elite owner

Interesting find - found this from a UK supplier that looks similar: http://customcreationpaints.co.uk/Hydro-Chrome The problem witrh using this on a pitted surface is that it just emphasises the pitting - I don't think it fills at all. I found this on trim that was re-anodised after polishing and i...

Re: Hello from a newish Elite owner

Hi Simpatico, For fear of tempting fate, I'll post more once I've seen the end result! The trims are of two types: extruded (windscreen upper and lower rails), and fabricated (the side rails and trims). It looks like both windscreen trims are the same pattern, although the lower trim is also curved,...

Re: Hello from a newish Elite owner

Well, here's an update on the progress of my Elite...it's nearly finished, with just the engine management and injection to commission and the interior to install. Mike, Dave and Maurice at Lotusbits have been working hard to get the car ready for the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in a couple of wee...

Brian Angus on the 900 series engine

I wonder if anyone here went to the Club Lotus show at Donington last month and heard the presentation given by Brian Angus on the 900 series engine? He was the chief engineer on the project and talked about the development history of the engine and the different derivatives that were developed. He ...

Re: Hello from a newish Elite owner

Hi Peter, Good to meet you and thanks for your kind reply! What Elite did you have when you owned one? Will certainly post pics when it is ready. Like you, I'm a relatively recent convert to autos, although still enjoy driving a manual. It really was a toss-up which route I went. As for selling it, ...

Hello from a newish Elite owner

Hello everyone, It's good to see an active forum. I'm looking forward to joining in with some of the events as time permits. I bought my Elite S2.2 at the end of 2011. It was really a 'barn find' with lots of damp etc (it had an aftermarket sunhatch), so mid last year I found and met Mike and Dave a...
