Just got back from Cornwall tonight in the camper van - bought it from the Teeside airport lot a few weeks ago- pulled 90mph at one point along the A1...circuit called Croft. Would have liked to have gone in the Lotus but the wife prefers looking over the hedges into other peoples gardens as we driv...

Sorry Terry I've only got a workshop manual to go by it looks to me that 3 of the wires are RN (redBrown) and are connected together to one terminal , the forth wire is RW (redWhite) and connects to the other . how many terminals are on the Rheostat in as you look at it? Logic ally from the wiring d...

Jonk These are the very reasons I went for a manual set-up. However, I actually paid a bit extra than I have declared in this forum for a non-exchange manual rack so I could keep the original PAS system (needs a recon!) just in case I got tired of the manual set-up. The manual set-up has a simple be...

I couldn't possibly go to a meetin' like that!!!! The inevitable driving competition on the way home would either kill me , get me nicked or completely demoralised me when the Ferarri, Porche, and TVR's out drag the SE down the A1.... Are there any lanes/ B roads nearby? ho hum... Otherwise sounds l...

just to be awkward...I use 22psi all round in my 205/50/15 Toyo T1Rs because the side walls are stiff and the ride suffers with 24 psi as standard for 215s on an Excel. The original elite eclat on 205/60/14s also used 22psi all round for normal sub 100mph driving.. If your car is heavy (ie air con, ...

Hey Dave, Ground clearance IS less on 205/50/15's but it works out to about 5mm/0.2 inch less than 215/50/15s. Buuuuuuutttttt I've compensated for this by adding an extra small aluminium plate pop-riveted to the spoiler/inside the front wheel arch. This reinforcement prevents (to some extent) the sp...

Hi Oz By the looks of that filter I wouldn't swap it for the standard set-up because the distributor HT leads lie just below the carbs on the 901/912 engine! At least with the std sealed box there is less chance of petrol driping on to the HT leads. I'd go for a green cotton or K&N std replacement i...

Hi Tony The drivers window stops in any position...... it all depends on how hot the thermo component thingy gets. In fact the drivers window runs more smoothly in its tracks than the less used (but never fails) passenger door window. I'm not going to do anything about it at the moment because it's ...

hey, My drivers door window sometimes fails but it is due to the switch (or a component in the circuit). There is an "overload component" (a thermo-something in the circuit) that cuts the power to the motor when the window reaches the end of travel. Mine plays up in hotter weather. The window will s...

[quote="mikefahey"]What's all this nervous stuff then, the only things that I get nervous about over six grand in top, are the old bill and the engine letting go!!

try removing the rear spoiler...then you'll understand nervous ....the back end goes very light @ 130!

Hi I have the same problem with my Clan - ie where to place axle stands so you can completely drop the suspension etc. You can jack up the car with a trolley or sissor jack under the bottom link close to the lower shock mount. Over the years I have found that the best way to support the car for maxi...
