If so, to the best of my knowledge there was no change through the life of the Excel.

Re: Celebration for sale
I kept looking at the shots of the interior. The colour on my laptop screen made it look more golden than a normal Celebration, I considered whether it was just a camera/ screen thing but the yellow of the badge looked normal with just the dash etc seeming off. Then, the roof lining looked very yell...

Currently at £15k and reserve not met. Wonder if it will top the £16750 of the other recent auction for a Celebration.

Re: 2 Buckled Wheels!
Went to have the Route OZ balanced a couple of weeks ago, one balanced and was correctly shaped, one balanced but had c5mm of ovalisation, the other two wouldn't balance even with a line of weights half way round the rim, and had c199mm of ovalisation. They (all 5 including spare) are off to be corr...

Re: Painting the block
I used a high temperature aluminium paint and that seems to have stayed in place. It might have been the Carplan one or possibly VHT, it was a brush-on type. I did it really just to try and keep the engine a little clean by sealing up the small surface pores.

Re: Door Window Frames
Th firm that made thee originals for the Excel may still have stock/ will likely have manufacturing facilities for that H-section frame (I'm assuming that's not unique to Lotus), after all they did the run of frames that Angus arranged. I do recall seeing a news/ magazine article posted about them s...

Re: Engine starts then stalls
Glad it's sorted. Not the most obvious cause but it's not as if we think of ignition switches as failing very often.

Helicoils are the go-to solution to this 9all too common) problem.

Re: Lotusbits Marton Warwickshire
Mike has a logical priority order for customers. Those in front of him get attention while they are in front of him, so they get the parts, pay the money and depart happy. Those on the telephone will have their call answered as soon as there is somebody not with a customer, and the order taken etc. ...

Re: Valve clearances
Depends on the sealant in use, but if it's the one Lotus recommend (or the replacement for it) they are "zero thickness" meaning it's less than a thou' so no need to allow for it.

Re: Clutch Master Cylinder & Slave Cylinder.
Many years ago I got some via amazon. It was either Brake Engineering WC1060BE Slave Cylinder or Brake Engineering WC1040BE Slave Cylinder. I think it's the latter. Brake Engineering MC1602BE Master Cylinder You can then do a cross reference https://www.yoyopart.com/oem/1159803/brakeengineering-mc16...

Re: Exhaust Manifold
An SE manifold would mean changing/modifying the downpipe slightly as the flange is angled differently and has the bolt pattern inverted (2 at top and 1 at bottom vs 1 at top and two at bottom).

Is the assist spring in place? It should keep the slave cylinder close to the point of engaging the fork with the bearing.

Re: Connector?
The Lucas distributor pickup wire connector is in that region. Two wires, each connecter has male and female so are identical to the other half. When assembled it looks almost like one plastic blob. C30mm long, 2omm x 8mm wide, circular edges, flat ends.

Re: Cam lock tool
You don't need them, and they would probably make it more difficult as you'll need to slightly rotate the cams. If you really want to feel safe and so unable to turn the cams much too far, then a cable tie securing together the two cams via the nearest large holes (like the ones either side of the d...
