New Member, Long Term 'Owner'

Post by The83Boy »

Hello,

Just a quick post to introduce myself as a new forum member, but not a new owner.

I have a 1981 type 83 Elite in Onyx Green, which my father Mike bought back in 1989. He sadly passed away in 2016 and consequently his car(s) were passed on to me.

Having already racked up 30 years of enjoyment in the Elite, I'm really looking forward to the next 30! No doubt I'll be here looking for help on keeping it going from time to time!

Happy motoring,
James.

Welcome to the forum! A sad way to acquire a car, but what a wonderful memento that will give you great joy and remind you of him every time you go out!

Any questions, ask away, we're all eager to help out our fellow owners.

Welcome. Love the colour, any chance of more photos.

Welcome James, I've seen your car a few times and always loved the condition and the colour. Your father was well liked and respected, although sadly I never met him.

I'll add you to my list of S2.2 owners if I may; we may raise a cup of tea (or something) this year to celebrate the S2.2 40th birthday! My thoughts at the moment are around doing something at the Club Lotus Trackday on 23 May, and getting Eclats along for their 45th, but I'll be posting more once I have my thoughts together.

Cheers, Richard

Of course. :)

This ones form around 1990 with my dad (Mike) and sister (Debbie). I'm on the right in the white t-shirt, although these days I'm older than Dad was when this picture was taken.

This one comes courtesy of Ian Stent and the team at Absolute Lotus magazine from last January's group test.

And finally a more recent picture facilitated by a failed fuel pump.

Love that car! Love the colour! 8)

That's the one I would have taken home from that AL test!

Going to read it again on the bog tomorrow morning to get a quick nostalgia fix... ( I still pine for my (deceased) Elite from time to time) :)

That looks gorgeous, the colour is perfect. I remember seeing the Elite for the first time - I thought it looked like something from outer space! They still look stunning today, especially when you compare them to the other cars that were on sale at that time. I'm sure that one day they're going to be worth a fortune.
