Yes, sorted them the other day Pete, just needed the threaded bar length adjusted. Sit flush now :)

Not too much to do. Interior is pretty good. Drivers sun visor is falling apart but otherwise good.

Booked in at a Lotus specialist tomorrow to have a look at rebuilding the carbs and setting them up. And a massive oil leak :?

Yes cam covers most likely on a non-SE.
... or, in order of pain-in the arseness
1) crank seals, or crankcase blow hole (if under pressure from worn rings/liner)?
2) oil filter seal, or distributor shaft seal (in same area)?
3) sump plug crush washer?

Hi Andy and welcome.
Looks in nice condition and I'm sure you'll enjoy the ownership experience.
You'll find plenty of help here on the forum if you need it.

Hi Andy. Welcome. You might own one of the first Excels, worth checking VIN number and car build number.
Just in case, SJSportscars can supply almost any part you need, a bit pricey but good service.
Oil leak. If cam covers I suggest you get 4 gaskets, 2 spare, they are called saddle type, and I suggest you preform them
to make installation with best silicone less messy and a better joint. There are rubber washers on the cam bolts
which you might consider renewing.
The distributor shaft seal is a simple O ring and the sump plug crush washer worth getting.
How is your timing belt? And oil filters need to be top quality with non-return valve.

Dave the cog.

It did 832 miles last year. I’m trying to keep it under 100,000 which is right hard when at last MOT showed 99,960.

Lah520p did 420 as well! Factor in I’m getting 100 MPF (miles per failure) Out of the stag and that thing breaks down at least 4 times a year. That’s over 1500miles in classics not including riding in AA trucks with a Stag on the back.
