Finally bought one

Post by Lotus520 »

Hi All
I’ve finally found one that ticked my boxes, 16 year ownership, very good MOT history, 1990 metallic blue with full mag hide and to top it all 38k miles with fresh cam belt and tyres.
Very very excited and should have it in about a week or so.
Cheers

Congratulations! Sounds similar to mine, same year and similar colour. However mine doesn't have the full leather, and has done about 162,000 more miles.

Enjoy your new toy!

Congratulations. I assume it's the one that was on private plates whilst being advertised. Looks a very good car. Well worth the search.
We like piccies please when she arrives.

Didn't see the advert, so I don't know what sort of blue it is! It's still blue though.

Well done on your new aquisition. Please let us know how you get on with it, once it arrives.

I hope your new tyres are better than the new tyres my Excel came with: Hifly brand. I didn't even do a hundred miles on them before I replaced them.

I left Edinburgh yesterday morning and eight and a half hours later reached home. Three thunderstorms and roadworks on the A1 were my only problems.
I have her booked in for a full service and a good going over later this month and overall was very pleased with how she behaved yesterday. The carb’s definitely need attention as do the brakes, and she had some small vibrations at various road speeds. The tyres are Toyo, they seemed okay, but obviously I didn’t push her yesterday.
I will upload some photos later in the week as she now needs a good wash.

Good to hear you had an uneventful first trip! I went in the opposite direction when I bought mine, purchased in Lowestoft and driven home to Aberdeen. Made it to within a few miles of home and it stopped and would not re-start! In hindsight, I suspect it was probably just the immobiliser key falling out...
