Following a minor hedge parking manouvre  I needed a new outrider and lens cover. Standard outrider fitted, but played with some LED day lamps with integral amber indicator. Nothing done which can't be undone for the purists; but I can drive down unlit country lanes on side lights now :D
Each unit has 2 rows of white LED with single row of ambers. To conform to legal requirements, the top bank is white only and the lower is amber only, with the sneaky option to override and have all whites blazing.

Thankfully at least your rear lights will be on ...unlike the increasing number of wallies in moderns who drive at night on DLRs with NO rear lights lit of course!

Second task completed and boy what a diff-erence. Replacement diff fitted with many thanks to BigJim. Not a job I recommend to do alone. I looked like sammy davis jnr at the end of the day.

2 videos attached - clear whine evident on the first at about 24 secs in.

Front shocks now in place. Coil overs are a bugger to fit as I didnt have a suitable spring compressor. New set bought but again no good for coil overs. Struggled all day yesterday and only managed to remove one old spring and shock. Eureka moment. Resorted to basics and string!!. 3 hours later and both fronts replaced. Kit came with no C spanner to wind up the springs so ride height currently sits at 4 inches :!:

Update:

The birthday boy is all smiles after an exhausting week :D :D

Front and rear shocks and springs changed for coil overs. Differential replaced with secondhand unit. Radiator replaced with upgrade 3 core item. No leaks yet. When doing the rad upgrade, make sure the replacement rad has all its mountings  Saves a lot of faff later:D

Wow, they look really neat. Where did you get those light units? I've just put led festoon bulbs in mine, but one considering an upgrade! Good work!

Using the standard COBO unit I removed the bulb holder and reflectors and placed one LED unit either side and wired in. There is a slight 2 mm lip around the LED head which made the unit ever so slightly too large, so I just filed flat top and bottom which made a nice snug fit and also helped to hold the LED. If I hadnt filed the lip I would have possibly cracked the cover. A little clear silicon just to hold steady, with a thin ply separator to stop any possibility of any light break through.
