Nice! Going to need a lot more pictures and explanations for those of us who can't be there and are confused by all the goings on....
Neil.
We’re also confused Neil. I hope to have the full story on Sunday when I go!
Hopefully we’ll have some more pictures today. If I get time I’ll try to post stuff from Facebook if it isn’t on here - I posted one of Tony’s pictures there yesterday and it’s had a good response.
Hope to have a zoom meeting next Weds if that is ok with you? A week late but it has been a busy time.
Safely home, and I didn’t pass out with glue fumes! Very pleased with the progress on the headlining during the show. All that still needs doing is the cant rails / C-pillars, and sun visors, both of which will require me to ask Heather to do a bit of sewing - and frankly after this weekend it’s already me who owes her a favour!

Yep - another great show! So glad to be back socialising again. Mind you - after talking to hundreds of people at the show and playing sardines on the train home, if I haven't got Covid now I'm never going to catch it!! Great weekend and great to catch up. Plus a choice of petrol fumes or glue to sniff
A very successful show this year. Tribute to the three owners who brought their cars along: Marcus’ beautifully executed v8 Excel redesign which looks fantastic with Lamborghini and Maserati influences - the red car in the photos of the show; my award for dedication and commitment to the Grand Tourers goes to Stu Bagshaw for his Lotus Rescue Elite (the white car in the pictures) who spent the show working to recommission the car which turned out to have locked brakes and deeply faulty electrics - a lesser mortal would have given up but Stu was absolutely determined, and despite these problems managed to get it to the show, pulling a rabbit out of the hat at the 11th hour; and Richard Gosling who successfully completed his headlining replacement which continued the rolling restoration of his dark blue Excel SE. Thanks also to Lotusbits who brought along a chassis display - a new Elite/Eclat chassis sitting on top of a rusted original, and their exploded engine display.
Helping on the stand were Tony Dakin who stepped in to look after setup and management of the stand when I unexpectedly couldn’t attend; to Alan McKenzie and Pete Boole who were there to support and help together with their encyclopaedic knowledge of the cars and tremendous skill. Thanks to them as well as all our other visitors.
It was also great to see Alan Moss who does sterling work with the Sporting Bears, and drives an Excel. The Bears raise funds for a number of deserving charities and give people drives in all kinds of exotic machinery.
Our stand had one of the most active levels of restoration activity at the show - as far as I could see - and I hope we can continue to support Clarion, the organisers, in supporting the concept of the show and drawing visitors.
With owners and support like this I think we can feel really confident in not only the survival but also the overdue growth in appreciation of these cars. As someone said on Sunday, ‘They just don’t date, do they?’
Yes, good to see everyone on Saturday, and a great effort by all involved with the stand. The whole show was very enjoyable, just a nice size for a 1 day visit, and plenty of space.
