Hinckley Motor Show 17th September

Post by rbgosling »

Any takers for this year's jaunt to Hinckley Town Centre? For those who've not been before, the whole town centre of Hinckley becomes one big classic car (and tractor, and bike etc.) show, great atmosphere and lots of people coming to check out the cars. Entry is free, you just need to pre-register. Last year we arranged to meet up just outside the show so we could arrive in convoy, that ensured that we could all park together.

2022 MG MG5 EV (not due to be a classic for quite a few years...)
2011 Nissan Leaf (Ragly - EV pioneer, must be due to be a classic one day)

Yes, already in my diary as I plan to be there.
Was going to ask - when entering, is it best to complete the form as attending as a group or individual?
Also, what time do you meet?

Yes please, will be in Oxford in the Elite on the Saturday and then off to work in it for a few days in Staffordshire from Monday, so Hinckley on the Sunday fits really well.

As Alan says book as individuals or group / club ?

I'm signed up.
Entered under a group " Lotus Grand Tourers"

Pre met at the superstore carpark half a mile away is best option as Richard said. Think last year we were there soon after 8:00. !!!

Also signed up under LGT. Tricky question on driver / passenger dress code linked to car age. I clicked 'no' but in reality my wardrobe hasn't really moved on much since then, okay some size inflation.

Mr Chapman wouldn't be amused.😀

I got my heavy vehicle pass too - ACBC would turn in his grave at the thought of a heavy Lotus!!!

What’s the latest time I could meet at the supermarket to drive in together?

Depending on the forecast I'm hoping to be there - sans Lotus, as usual

I'm taking my mum to lunch at the pub. We'll get there for about 12:45, so I hope to meet one or two of you. Our time in the field could be anything from 10 minutes to an hour, depending on whether my mum's on a good day.

If you see a 58 year old man, with dark hair, & about two months overdue for a haircut, helping his mum around the field, that's me; come & say hello.

My plan to drive down in the UK's worst looking Excel that has an MOT (& drives very nicely) will not come to fruition, because the car is away at Lotusbits for one of their sports exhausts.

Edit: I've just realised I posted this (above) on the wrong thread - I thought I was on the Hinton thread. The Hinton Arms event was well worth the short trip. I'm too busy to go all the way to Hinkley on 17th. Maybe next year.

. What’s the latest time I could meet at the supermarket to drive in together?
Last year we met at Tesco's at 8;00 am and drove in around 8:15 to 8:20 if I recall. Personally, I think we would have got a better location had we gone slightly later.
Previous year I think the meet up was a little later. 8:45 at Tesco's?
Organisers say drive on before 8:30, but I can't see why that is important.
I'd suggest meet Tescos 8:15 to 8:30. Aim to depart latest 8:40 .
Thoughts anyone?

Tony

Fine with me.

Making a few days round trip of it, Kent, to Beaconsfield area to meet up with a gentleman who spent some time on our stand at last year's NEC, and has been hunting for a running, presentable, 'standard' Elite S1 before and since, just going to give him a run out in it whist nearby to see if the reality of the experience meets the expectation, then Oxford for 'Tea at the Randolph' then Hinckley. Staffordshire to work for a few days, before back to Kent.
