This is what's left of the old repair that lasted 3 years
The other side was cracked and the threaded part loose[/img]
So I cut a small plate and drilled a hole to accept the threaded part as a press fit and attached it using the screw that holds the lock in place. I realise I am moving the stress to another post which will probably break in time but don't have much choice. I guess the first one lasted 30 years.
I put a bed of Gorilla glue behind the plate so should be pretty strong I hope. The glue expands so had to trim some of it off. Have fitted it to the car and all seems good so far.
