Re: Paint Job Update
Here it is! Parked in "Wedge Corner" of the Long Buckby car meet. Not the best photos (too busy looking at the other cars to remember to take some photos of mine!). It already needs a wash (tipping it down on the way home from the painters) and a good waxing to get the best, but still, it looks SO much better.
In the end I paid the painter £3,300, although he was still only asking for £3,000, because he ended up putting way more hours of work into it than he had expected, and I felt he'd earned it. Honestly, I'm probably still under-paying for the effort he put in, but I thought it a fair compromise.
It'll be there for all to see on Friday at the Winterbottom memorial service.

Re: Paint Job Update
That looks superb.
That red TR7 looks identical to one I had back in the early 80s.
Cheers, Richard

The paintjob looked great, worth the wait I think.

Re: Paint Job Update
Looked a really nice job. You've got me thinking and will likely drop over to see him with a few bits off the Elite that need a satin black finish (bumpers, sills, door inner lining) for a quote.
With the time scale I'm working to on the Elite, I think your man works in the same time zone.

Code: Select all
If anyone wants to try the same guy in the future, his name is Ray Lennon, he's near Walgrave in Northamptonshire, he has no website, but he has an email info@rlennonrepairs.co.uk and phone numbers 01604 780062 and 07736 255173
Unfortunately this guy Richard used has now retired.
Will need to find another for some satin black detailing

Re: Paint Job Update
That's a shame! He was good, and he certainly didn't seem short of work to do. I'd be impressed if you can find anyone else with his balance of quality and price, when I was researching there seemed to be two extremes of way-too-cheap and way-too-expensive and no-one in the middle, Ray was the only one anywhere who bridged the gap of doing a decent job without charging more than the car was worth. And he knew fibreglass.
