Black trim on the upper/lower body joint
Been looking at the parts that came with my car and found the two missing parts of trim used to hide the joint between the upper and lower halves of the body. On was for the door, so went back on with little fuss. The other one is a large section that runs form one the back of the front wings over the wheel arches and round the front of the car, this seems less inclined to go back on, there does not seem to be enough of a step to push it on, is this normal? Would this normally need to be glued on or should it just push into place?
Of all the things I have lost I think I miss my mind the most...

There is a complete description of how to replace the body joint trim under I (Information) for the SJSportscars Body Trim Part.
Well worth looking up, you will see it is more complex than a simple Push-on, and good advice for replacing small fixing screws.

It’s not expensive, so probably worth replacing, and yes needs gluing with something like tiger seal.

There are also 2 types of trim. Check the one you have
And doing it in a warm environment is important.
You needed a heat gun to deform the trim on the car. Length by length.
Take some over size on each ending as the trim will crawl up at that point.
Use some easy to remove tape to push the trim to the car while cooling down and after applying the glue
Leave the trim for 1 night on the car unglued and apply glue in one run with the help of 2nd person.
Also most difficult part are the edges. Be sure not to flatten the trim when bending around.
Also buy the polymer SJS is proposing. This is a very good stuff and applies easily and is flexible + strong as hell.
I must say.. I was a pro doing so.. at the end when I finished the car
