Carpet binding

So this is the binding on my carpet.

Image

It's a webbing material but every other car I've seen has a vinyl binding.

The begging question is, did it come like this from factory?

The carpet is either shot or missing so a replacement will undoubtedly need to be got. Lotus Bits have priced for a full replacement at £287+vat. Has anybody had any experience with their carpet set or any other recommendations? It will be coming with the vinyl binding, so interested to know if the webbing binding i currently have is a later custom job or original... I think i like it more than vinyl...

Coverdale regularly pop up as established suppliers of a carpet set for wedges. The PO of my car bought a set a few years back and that's what's in it now. Quality is Ok but not great. Side walling is fine, but the floor pieces aren't a great match for the contours. Won't surprise many that I did a bit of customizing on mine

They have the vinyl edging. My suspicion is that you have the lotus original supply stil.. I'd agree the webbing edge is better.

Thanks men,

Good info on Cloverdale. Same sample data sheet as what LB had provided.. so I assume it's the same carpet sets.

Samples on their way, and may see if I can get a set 'unbinded'. The webbing is readily available (woolies) , thinking of binding it in the webbing.

If they can't or won't supply without the binding, it only takes a few minutes with a razor blade to cut the stitches and remove. Where I did it I don't recall any witness being left.
