Weight of Excel bare shell

Post by SteadyEddy »

Would anyone know the weight of a completely bare Excel bodyshell? Stripped of all glass, interior, doors, bumpers, boot and bonnet.
I need to move it from chassis to a dolly for painting. Wondering if 4 blokes can lift it - I think so but just wanted to check!
Many thanks...

Should work. Look up the youtube video of soup classic motoring lifting an Esprit, should be much the same

I think it's about 250 - 300kg - heavier than it looks. Depends how strong your mates are! :D

Thanks for your inputs.

It's done! Chain block and tackles bolted to garage rafters - body lifted, chassis rolled away, dolly rolled in, body lowered. No strained backs!

Well done! Now you just need to weigh it for all of us, so the next time the question comes up we have an answer...
