ANYONE KNOW SOME GOOD POLISH

Post by pompey ice »

Hi, Im' talking about the WAXY stuff , my eclat/excel to my knowledge has'nt had anything other than soap and water on it for at least six years, and although it comes up nice and shiney but not having another one parked alongside to compare with is,question ; can it be more trouble than its worth using a polish, if it is benificial what do you recomend to do or not to do .A few pointers would be useful before i clean it with a wet brick if you know what i mean

Cheers IAN

I've used the autoglym silicone resin polish for years .. you won't believe how well water bubbles on it after a proper polish!!

Hi, Frosts have some interesting products under the One Grand brand.
This includes Omega Glaze which attempts to tackle those annoying swirls, etc. and a paste wax with Carnauba called Blitz wax.

silicon

Post by steven popay »

thats right you dont want to be using silicon based products especially if you are having any bodywork done, silicone is hard to get rid of and devastating to try to paint over no matter how much you clean the panel.

The queue should be based on the most needy!

Anyone who has seen my car will agree I'm at the front of the queue!

sorry guys i wish i could help but with me working at a main dealers they are not in to foriegners, so much so that i will have to pay to put my own car through, and at that its all prepped up. one of the lads i work with put his car through a backstreet bodyshop round the corner from us because it was cheaper.

polish

Post by pompey ice »

Hi All ,
Many thanks for all your useful input/pointers,it looks like the silicon base polish will be off the list ,although the body work is fine there are a couple of long thin cracks of the top coat varnish running along the edge of the roof , its only noticable when dust or dirt collects there,so i should try to seal the cracks up before applying any type of gunge. Anyone tried clear nail varnish or is that asking for trouble?? :|

i have conducted extensive tests of all the readily available polishes over the last couple of years and i have concluded that the overall winner for me is auto glym super resin polish followed by an application of auto glym extra gloss protection.

In determining what i consider 'the best' i looked at shine, ease of application, and price. There may be some products that last longer than others between re application but i didn't consider this as i enjoy polishing up my cars!

Auto glym won pretty much hands down over mer zymol meguiers poorboys mothers turtle wax nano etc and i always swore by zymol before i checked out the others, i can assure you i am not an autoglym fanboy!
