While I was under the front of the car on saturday i noticed I can see though the ARB bushed on both sides.. question is do I change them for poly bushes or stick to standard, if the former where should I get them from?

The bushes in the lower links or the bushes on the chassis?

Stick to rubber if possible. The poly may squeak like hell

I've git Poly in the chassis and rubber in the lower links - no squeaking. I think that is Lotusbits recommendation.

The chassis bushes, the lower link bushes are fine!

ordered, hope they are not too bad to change, they look simple enough...

They are, but make sure you get the slit the correct way round. I believe they should be installed so the braking force pushes against the solid side and not into the split side.

and lubricate the rotating surfaces.

I was surprised to see they are cut through. I would have thought they could be walked on from each end with a little lube like the rubber ones were removed, but it is what it is.

My logic says the split should be to the front of the car. Would I be right ?

Later this evening, I'll follow this up with a post about how many shim's are needed at the Lower link position when using Poly in this location. - My experience is that it is far more than the what the workshop manual says. - More to follow when the day lights gone.

I found them a little of a pain, mostly as I had to drop the radiator out to get clearance to access the nut on the front bobbin bolt undone. The 4 nuts also had to be cut off. On refitting I put the 4 smaller rear bults in upside down as it was easier to get the nut on than put the bolts in!. The bushes were split at the top?

Where did you get your bushes from?
A split at the top (bottom) seems a good idea to me, but I'd still prefer no split - but then you could only fit by fully removing the ARB.

I'm two months late with this, but that doesn't sound right to me. I'm agreeing with Hawaiiso, who explains why the split should face the back of the car (if your choice is front or back). It's because under braking, the force that pushes forward will be far greater than any force going the other way under acceleration.

Sounds right to me, under braking the roll bar will be forced into the rear of the bush which is what was said, so that's where the solid side of the bush should be. However academic for mine as the split is at the top.

I'm glad you've posted that. I read last night just before bed time and the grey matter just kept churning. But every time I came to conclusion - split to the front.
The simplest way I could rationalise it was that the wheels are stopping, but the body wants to keep going forward. All connection points of the suspension to chassis are therefore loading the rear most side.
