Steve C - 17" rims

Post by amarshall »

Steve,

I'm just curious - which 17" rims did you fit and which tyres do you use ?

How do they affect handling/speedo accuracy/insurance ?

They are compomotive (FS?). I haven't fitted them yet. I bought them from Guy (doing the 400bhp supercharger converstion) since he is going for something even larger.

I think the tyres are 215/40x17, which will increase the radius by 3.5mm, the diameter by 7mm.

In theory, this will mean that the speedo will under-read by around 1% ... but I know mine currently overreads by more than that so it won't be a problem.

Take a look at this pic ... it's Guys car with them fitted ...

I'll take a look to see if the model number is stamped on them. You should be able to find them here www.compomotive.co.uk

I'm not convinced I'll leave them white ... I think some shade of silver will look better on a red car once it is resprayed.
