Tyre calculator, contact patch, stiffness, etc...

Post by fueltheburn »

This might be of help to some of you out there.
I have been using it to work out contact patches based on pressure, weight of vehicle etc...
Need to find enough contact patch to aid traction.
Enjoy..

hmmm... it won't allow 205 section on an 8inch rim!

And the Avon CR500 205 tyres are supposed to be fitted to an 8 inch rim!

Fell at first hurdle in my book! Too prescriptive /knows best etc!

Curious... just tried it with 8 inch wide and/or 8 inch high and it was giving figures for both on a 205 section
Needs load index and speed index adding to work properly.

It told me 6.5J optimum for 205/55/13 and would not give the full output on an 8J rim ...it would accept a 7j rim though ...

I see what has happened with your inputs now. It obviously doesn't like stretched tyres.
Mine weren't as stretched as that and were obviously within its limits.
Kind of surprised it wouldn't stretch to that extent... it isn't ultra extreme.
It doesn't appear to like tyres stretched beyond 1" from recommended values... says check input.
