How do you know it's a pre production - just the reg date? Any idea of VIN etc?

I messaged the seller and he gave it to me - 1148
When I saw reg BVF 267 Y is very close to the prototype BVF 261Y it made me curious.

Blind shots on the MOT checker web sites and BVF262Y is also an Excel - White registered between the 2nd and 5th pre production. Most likely another of the 5.
BVF 266Y is also a lotus, but unfortunately the model is not recorded, nor an exact registered date. - just Sept 82 .
BVF 264Y is an Elite.

I know BVF 260Y is a yellow S2.2 Esprit as I’ve seen a photo of that one.
