"Will double in value in 2 years."
Can I demand a refund of the difference if that doesn't turn out to be true?

Looks good in the photos. Very late car.

Re: Last one (allegedly)
I went to see this car in September the owner had already warmed up the engine before I got there.
The air-conditioning was not working and is still not working.
The odometer was not reading correctly and has recently been away for a rebuild there is no verification of mileage and between in 1992 and 2003 (No service history or MOTs).
There is no indication of when the cambelt was last changed.
The windscreen has started to delaminate quite badly.
The fans are not working correctly which is believed to be the otter switch?
The front tyres are rubbing the wheel arches, the owner believes the front shocks are weak.
Front wishbone bushing needs changing (noisy)
Electric windows are slow in operation.
Front driver's seat is torn and the Gator around the gear shift is browning along with other points of contact.
So where would you estimate the value to be?

Re: Last one (allegedly)
Loved the "drivers seat torn but easily repaired" comment. So easily repaired that despite going to all the effort of a respray, they didn't fix that.

If I hadn't seen the re-spray pictures I would have said the paint was original. A lot of fine scratches.LotusMonkey wrote: ↑Thu Feb 16, 2023 15:21Loved the "drivers seat torn but easily repaired" comment. So easily repaired that despite going to all the effort of a respray, they didn't fix that.

Re: Last one (allegedly) = NOT
It's not the last one - FACT.
It's the car after mine - 20th of 33 made after the Celebrations. It is however one of the last to be registered - Only 2 cars registered later.
The last car was given to Hazel Chapman ( 33 of 33) - I know the reg no and it's been untaxed since Jun 1994 and has no electronic MOT records - lost in time. _ now that car would be worth a premium.
- But this one isn't. The front shocks won't cause the tyres to rub the arch. They don't get much more shot than mine were and mine were well clear.
The cars been doing the rounds on different market places for 6 months now. Previously, price has been £10.950 on Ebay ( Sept 22) then £10,500 on faceplant ( Nov 22).
Good (ish) paint, but beyond that, doesn't look to have a lot going for it based on Jazzy's report. - A £6 to £7K car at most (IMO) and that's only down to the respray.

Re: Last one (allegedly)
The black waistline trim strip has pulled away from the front wheel arch & the passenger door handle is not seated properly.
I like the interior. It’s a lot better than mine. I haven’t seen one of these late interiors before. The door cards, with the storage bins, are a better design than in my 1987 car.
I think if I was able to give the car a good test drive & I didn't discover any problems not already highlighted in this thread, I'd feel OK about taking a chance & paying £7k for it. I think the interior adds significant value, & not just because it's in good condition - it's the little improvements to the design over the early cars, as well. & so what if the seat needs a repair? It's not worth getting done if you value your time, & you're aiming for some profit on a £7K car, but if it's your car & you're going to drive it for the next x years, you won't begrudge however many hours it takes to organise getting a seat tidied up.
Are the speakers in the dashboard OE for these late cars?

Re: Last one (allegedly)
Well it's at £9200 which is at least £1,200 more than I think it's worth

All done at £10,400 & if I didn't have an aversion to exclamation marks, I'd be using one now.

Re: Last one (allegedly)
Let’s wait and see if it resurfaces for sale shortly !!
But if it has sold for that it bodes well for values of our cars, but if becomes too expensive it will possibly change the type of owner?

Re: Last one (allegedly)
Ha – I note your use of a double exclamation mark, Alan & I realise this is your keen wit, rather than the way you might ordinarily finish a sentence.
Yes, it “sold” on ebay, but that doesn’t mean the ebay buyer will pay the sold price, because although ebay has rules, they’re not enforced, so winning bidders are free to negotiate down once the auction has ended. If the seller complains to ebay, my experience is, they will take no action against a winning bidder who decides he doesn’t want to buy at the agreed price. Selling cars on ebay must work for some people, or we wouldn’t see so many cars on there, but the only time I tried, I let an auction run three times, for the same car, & it didn’t actually sell until I put it on Pistonheads.
So let’s not read too much into this sale price. Perhaps the new owner will come onto the forum & confirm the price.
