Carb balancing

Belts, Plugs, Filters, Fuels, Oils, additives etc..... Told you this might morph into servicing and service items.

Carb balancing

Post by Skeggy »

I used to balance carbs by ear but old age has taken it's toll :(

So where can I get one of those manometers thingys as cheap as possible?

Or are there any other options/ideas?

Many thanks in advance.

Carb Balancing

When I did mine some time ago I only had a single vacuum gauge so balanced them as follows. Mig welder tips screwed into the carb holes with tubes attached. Strong spring clamps on 3 tubes bent double to block these. Vacuum gauge on the 4th. Clamp this one then move the gauge.
It did make it a bit labourious but was doable.
I used a colortune as well.

I've used the CarbTune for a couple of years and found it very quick and easy to balance all four chokes simultaneously. Recommended!

Thought about your suggestion RobCallen but decided to talk SWMBO into letting me get a Carbtune

This afternoon I used it and have to say how good it is. Very simple to use and within minutes I have an engine that ticks over perfectly. Haven't driven it yet due to alcohol comsumptiom celebrating Jenson's win

Anyway a highly recommended product. Thanks to all the pointed me in the right direction.

Steve

PS. Just a thought...anyone that wants to come over to Skegness and use it before they buy thier own (seeing it in action you will want one!) is very welcome.
