Just replaced the fuel pump on my car with a new one - just as a precaution - I am not into breakdowns and it's something I was advised to do by another member some time ago.
When I turned the ignition on there was the constant sound of the pump - it didn't stop after a few seconds as it should do. Luckily a friend was helping me and he knew what the problem was -there was an airlock between the pump and the tank. He slackened off the output hose slightly from the pump and this allowed the air to escape and as soon as the fuel started to come out he tightened it again. Job done.
Thought I would mention this in case someone else has the same problem.
Mark.
