V belt length

Post by Big Jim »

Hi does any one know the length of the alternator drive belt ? The reason I ask is my old one is 850 , I bought a new Gates belt from a Lotus supplier and it is 865 , which is too long . Is there something non standard on my car or was I suplied the wrong belt ?
Thanks Jim

The correct alternator belt is a Gates 6263MC, according to their website the length is 865mm. So you have the right belt now.

Mmm. 865 is too long for me , I run out of adjustment .850 is only just small enough .

Non standard alternator or pulley? I've just measured the alternator pulley diameter on mine and its 63mm. I suppose if the pulley was smaller you would need a shorter belt?

Mine also 63mm .It must be a non standard slotted adjuster ? There is a bit of a mystery in that area , note the ragged edge on that bracket , that is the cam belt tensioner on the right ff the pic.
