Under Body Mount Repair

Post by The Kingmaker »

So I have an under body mount repair job for my increasingly costly car, before it can go through its MOT.

I paid one garage to do it, and they bodged it, and have refused to put it right. Although they have been generous enough to offer me my money back!

I'm now in need of a recommendation for this type of work in London?

Picture of the required repair avaiable here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gj1ktxzqqeedq ... e.jpg?dl=0

{ Mod tip - if you change the "0" to a "1" at the end of your line, DropBox will allow you to embed the image - like this ]

Any suggestions gratefully recieved

Oh boy. I await other comments to be corrected, but I think that is terminal and requires a reshell - LB have them of course. Only 12 bolts. :D

I would be surprised if that could not be fixed by building up layers with a carbon fibre and kevlar weave. It is after all GRP layers in the first place.
Cross lay the weave for added strength in different planes.

That is one of the two body/chassis fixing points at the front - it really needs doing right. Mike Taylor has a good tame fibreglass expert! Because of the complexity of that area it may even be better to get a repair section bonded in.

Thank you gentlemen. I've rented a ramp for Sunday. I will let you know how it goes!

Wish me luck!

Be careful not to remove the spiders web! Being one of the strongest materials known, its holding everything together. :D
