Headlamp lift motor water ingress

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

Headlamp lift motor water ingress

Post by tonypoll »

One of my headlamp lift motors stopped working.
I found the rubber boot covering the manual lift knob at the bottom of the motor was full of water.
Simply draining the water was enough for the motor to start working again.
I made a small hole in the bottom of the rubber boot so in future any water can drain away, hopefully preventing the problem from reoccurring.

Perhaps they were never mounted in the same orientation on the Toyota that they came from. Is it worth removing the boots altogether - that way they will completely dry out again if they do get wet?
