Guys
Our early dash car (TR7 switches) needs a new main light switch. The old one is hanging out at the bottom but seems stuck fast at the top.
Is it necessary to remove the switch panel completely to replace it? Does something hold it from the back?
Cheers.

Never done one, but Parts is showing a Clip carrier to the rear. Rectangular to the shape of the sw body.
Lucas picture is showing 2 raised nipples to catch as it snaps in.
As you have released the lower 2, the upper 2 are now tight.
I would try pushing the lower back in slightly without the lower 2 nipples locating back and try to manipulate the sw body down.

Pull the two air boxes out and you will find two wing nuts to release the center dash panel.

Re: Early dash Excel-switch removal
I seem to recall that the panel itself is held by the fasteners near the airvents, and 'hangs' off a clip at he top - maybe you need to lift the panel to remove it?
As Stu says the switches themselves are held in by push-through clips on the body of the switch, but there are fibreoptic illumination clips that fit around the switch that also need to be released.

Re: Early dash Excel-switch removal
Thanks guys
Turned out to be much easier than I thought. The switch does just clip in but some idiot had glued it so I had to remove the panel. Our car doesn't have the fibreoptic system at all.
Cheers
