Headlights
I have just acquired a 1986 ExcelSE. It has been stood for a while and the headlights wouldn't raise / lower. I have raised them manually and they now work - however, the lights do not come on. The relays / fuses in the passenger footwell seem OK (But lights caise / lower on switch even if relays are removed!)

Help - has anyone got any ideas / wiring diagrams

Thanks
Ian Birch

These Cibie lights are a bit hard to come by and not cheap, but there's a few available on ebay at present http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %26fvi%3D1
make sure the mounting lugs on the back are the same as yours. Failing that, VW Golf headlights can be adapted fairly readily
Hope this helps

Club Lotus were advertising them (directly from the Club) in the last magazine. Haven't got it here, but can provide details tonight if anyone needs them.

The eBay listing says:
"Fit most cars using 7" round headlamps. Please check you dont have "pin fixing" lamps as fitted to some Lotus, Morgan, TVR & late Rover Minis"
So, these ones are no good?
Cheers, Gavin

Europa Spares have some new 7" cibies listed - not sure about the fittings though.

Re the ebay ones, he says "make sure you DON't have the pin fixings". From memory (I converted to Golf lamps ages ago), original Excel Cibies have three small elongated lugs around the circumference which sit in recesses in the backing plate. I'm assuming his are like this, but probably worth checking. If they're right it's not a bad price (by Cibie / Lotus standards)
