For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

High Beam Problems

Post by peterweston »

Strange happenings with my high beam. When I first start the car and switch the headlights on the main beam refuses to come on. It isn't until I've driven the car for about 5-6 miles that the full beam is then active?? Has anyone else experienced the same problem.
Regards

Peter

high beam problems

Post by chrisw2811 »

Peter, when you say high beam will not come on is this both headlamps? I have had problems with intermittent connection to the nearside headlamp on low beam, but not with both lamps. The cause was a corroded connector in the cable that runs through the grommet under the light pod - water can collect there. Problems with both headlamps together suggests a fault further back in the wiring, perhaps a relay. Might be worth checking the connections and relay. Regards, Chris
