Cooling fans don't kick in, fuses, relays, otters all ok

For all those wiring gremlins we love, this is the place to discuss them.

If the other was working prior to the seizure fix then it will be something obvious from the dismantle.

Thanks guys. Yes, now sorted; simple electrical connection fault! Should have picked up it sooner!

Can someone advise me if both cooling fans should come on, together, in all circumstances? I have one which was seized, now freed up, and works okay when directly connected to power, but does not come on with the other fan . Am now confused!
Both fans should come on simultaneously.

One common issue is the relay. The fan relay has two outputs, one for each fan. What should be fitted is a relay that switches both on, and both off, together. However, these relays are uncommon and harder to find, so often someone has stuck in the far more common "either/or" relay, which looks identical and fits in the same slots. Then you get one fan running when it's cold, and the other when it's hot (assuming everything else is working as it should). If you have one running when it's hot and the other never, then the problem is elsewhere (or maybe combined with the dodgy relay!).

I'm not sure off the top of my head whether they share a fuse or have one each, but that's an easy thing to check.
