Carb fuel line removal

Post by Dwaynem884 »

Needing to remove the carbs off the car in order to check them over, set up etc. but when attempting to remove the fuel line, the union is murder tight! Scared to give it brute force in case half the carb comes with it!
Am I missing some secret way of removing them or has a previous owner just tightened them up beyond human comprehension.

If worse comes to worst, we can make a temporary work bench en situ and work at the carbs without removing the fuel lines but naturally, it would be good to get them out completely.

Nothing special, just the nut on the end of the fuel line to each carb.
If fully refurbing carbs you will need to take the carb off the car, including the top cover. Otherwise it’s going to be a struggle to remove the float, float valve and top gasket.

One thing to note - when removing the pin that holds the float, gently tap the pin at the end with the clamping post (has a split in it). Once out of this post it will slide out of the other post. Do not tap from the other end, high risk of breaking clamping post.

Thanks Alan, Hoping to avoid a full refurb simply due to cost, just simply a check over of everything whilst they're removed to replace the botched anti-vibration mounts.

Accelerator Pumps might be difficult to access whilst still attached to car, but function might be possible to check.
