One of my engine mounts looks nothing like those listed on SJS's website, however the witness lines on the chassis engine mounting places do match up to these, is this normal or do I need a new drivers side mounting?
that is the odd one
the 'normal' one, as listed on SJS
and a blurry photo clearly showing the circular witness line left by the cylindrical mount!
Should I be worried or just use as is?

Re: Odd Engine mounts
That's the later mount, I seem to recall them being better at damping but no good for racing.

Re: Odd Engine mounts
Those are both exactly the same as I have on my '90. I replaced both when I did my engine rebuild (and the gearbox one).

Re: Odd Engine mounts
Would someone be so good as to post a picture of the two standard mounts in place please?
The right hand side one on my newly purchased car looks to be correct bet the left hand side one looks wrong and I'm worried it's collapsing.
(Sorry don't know how to post photos myself).
Thanks
Tony H

Re: Odd Engine mounts
My cars in for MOT tomorrow.
The tester there is user friendly, so I'll try and get a couple of photos from underneath whilst it's on the ramp.

Re: Odd Engine mounts
A few photo's of my N/S mount: - Not best views I'm afraid, but may help ( didn't want to upset the tester too much before he started ).
Tony
PS : Didn't upset the tester. Couple of minor issues that he verbally advised me on, one being the emissions again - but a full ticket

Tony - I think I need to find out where you're getting your MOT done!
Congratulations on the pass, and another year of motoring.

Re: Odd Engine mounts
Sent you a PM Richard.
Years ago I found a great guy in Ravensthorpe. Every MOT was an entertainment with a very realistic approach taken to Lotus ownership. You should have heard him when he failed my Elite on the rear brake pipes over the diff! He made it clear in no uncertain terms that he wasn't impressed with the routing and no way on earth was he going to offer to change the pipes.
The guy looked close to pension off even back in the 80's, so I doubt he's still spannering (or maybe even around).
