Elite S1 belhousing clutch 'gaiter' ?

Post by AndrewWebber »

Hi, the rubber 'gaiter' that surrounds the clutch release lever as it goes though the hole in the bellhousing has all fallen to bits on my 1979 Elite. Does anyone know what vehicle(s) it was also used on / where there are any available ? please. Lotus 5 speed (Maxi internals) box.

Many thanks

Thanks for suggesting Bedford CF van, I searched for this via ebay and came across this guy who is sending me one... he knows of the Elite / Eclat use (see his message below).... I'll let you know if it fits / works when I receive it.

Just to let you know the '1971-1976 Bedford CF Van' clutch fork gaiter arrived today and it fits well onto the S1 Elite, so think it confirms the suggested origin as correct.

Thanks for the help.

Andy it might be worth adding this in the alternative parts section of the forum for future reference.

Andy - would it be possible for you to measure the hole in the bellhousing or your old gaiter - I'd like to know if the Series 1 and Series 2 cars are the same size - the gaiter I have fits a hole about 48mm x 84mm. A member on TLF says the hole on his Riviera bellhousing is 48 x 100 (I had offered him the gaiter I have).

Thanks

Pete

Thanks very much Andy! So that means the Series 2 cars are different then - wonder what their gaiters came from?
