Clutch Master Cylinder & Slave Cylinder.

Post by RED BARON »

Hi Guys.
I want to replace my Clutch Master Cylinder & the Slave Cylinder on my 1990 Excel SE.
I know you can get the new Master Cylinder & a Slave repair kit form Lotusbits refurbed & new from SJ Sports.
Has anyone found an alternative new complete pair that fit also a lot cheaper?
The Slave Cylinder one might be difficult to find as the bolt holes are inline at the bottom I think.
If so can you tell me the supplier along with the relative part numbers so I can order them.
I have tried looking through pages on here under different categories but can't find any information,
This question & request must of come up before.
Many thanks.

Many years ago I got some via amazon.

It was either Brake Engineering WC1060BE Slave Cylinder or Brake Engineering WC1040BE Slave Cylinder. I think it's the latter.

Brake Engineering MC1602BE Master Cylinder
You can then do a cross reference https://www.yoyopart.com/oem/1159803/br ... 602be.html

Nice to see you back Ian. The slave cylinder is the same bore as a toyota high ace but the flange for the unit is opposite hand to ours so doesnt bolt on. But, if your old ones bore is good you can swap the piston and seals over which is what I did. Sorry I can't be more specific on model and part number Ive looked thro my old stuff and can't find it.
Edit, Ive had another look, I think it was a Delphi LL60923

Thanks Andy & Bash for your help.
I can get the Clutch Slave Cylinder from PNM which is part number PNMQ4031.
That's fine but can't find anywhere to get the Clutch Master Cylinder. the correct part number seems to be Brake Engineering MC1602BE
but no one stocks it as a single item, if at all.
Anymore ideas as to where I can get one other than SJ Sports at over £100, which does seem a lot.
Ian.

Pop 'clutch master cylinder' into the search engine.
There's a thread from June 2020 that looks to have some good info relating to this.

This was 10 years ago and the ebay links don't work anymore but worth searching Toyota Carina I remember the parts were much cheaper than the regular Lotus suppliers and a straight fit.

Ebay seller sukjac's site might be worth a look. He may be able to help cross reference

Hello. The Delphi part Number for the clutch master cylinder is ADT33431.
I'd bought one from an online seller, but the mounting studs are in the wrong place (12 and 6 o'clock)
I would recommend changing the push rod to the original. The new one is slightly shorter making the bite point for the clutch very low.

Hi, I am almost finding it imposable to get a Clutch Master Cylinder for my 1990 Excel.
I have tried getting :-

Lotusbits - secondhand £90 + vat + del
SJ Sports - £105 + vat +del
Brake Engineering - MC1602BE haven't made it for years
Toyota Celica 78-81 - No longer stocked
Toyota Carina - pt no. 31410-20120 no longer stocked
Toyota Carina - ADT33431 ( £75.86 + del )
CM21143 - ( can't remember who makes it )
Dorman CM39296 - USA
Delphi LM60579 - ( can't find stockist )
Ka Ka - MC1602BE - only supply trade
Jap Ko 95206 - ( only 1 stud ) Buy Car Parts .co .uk out of stock
China $100 + shipping
Australia
Amazon - out of stock
Ebay - all out of stock

Has anyone got any ideas? if not it seem I will have no choice but to pay SJ £138

I don't mind paying for parts but looking at other cars prices seem to range from £35-40

Hi Marten, have you tried fitting the ADT 33431 M/C?
It looks the same as the Brake Engineering MC1602BE & the Dorman CM39296

This is way of getting around the problem, it depends how complicated you want to get.
