Engine Mounts

Post by AlSmith »

Was servicing the Excel and replacing the brake pads yesterday (so much easier rasing the car using Quick Jacks). But my happiness was short lived..... I discovered the left hand engine mount is not physically bolted to the engine block and all three bolts are missing

Can the mount be reconnected by raising the engine up a bit from underneath (was thinking of using wood as a load spreader and a trolly jack) or is this a engine lift/hoist job?

Sorry forgot to take a photo.

You are safe jacking it up on the sump if you use a good spreader. Check the condition of the M8 threads in the block as well - they do take quite a bit of stress.
