Lotus Excel SA

Post by Martynw »

Does anyone know if the automatic gear shift handle used on the Excel SA was "borrowed" from another car? Unsurprisingly no one has a new one available and with only about 30 made, finding a second hand one will be a challenge too. Hoping it is a Ford one (or maybe a Toyota one?) which might make life easier.

Many thanks.

It’s BMW from same period cars that used the same ZF box.

Excellent, thank you. Not cheap but plenty of them on eBay etc.

I ended up repairing mine with some Upol carbon fibre filler. A short length of 15mm copper pipe with a slot cut in it made a perfect former, I pushed the filler into the screw hole and other gaps, then drilled the screw hole out after it hardened.
