Grand Tourers Register

Post by MetBlue »

Prompted by the very complete registry data I was given from my cars PO, covering in detail the Celebration and Run Out models, I've been drawing together a register (by Registration numbers) of any Grand Tourers I've seen photographs of in the last couple of months.
There's a few cars where I have Chassis and Engine serial numbers as well (many dealers put this info in their ads), but for now, Reg numbers form the back bone of the data. Using MOT / tax checkers, in the longer term ( just need the time - Not yet DVLA checked in table below) it will be possible to build quite a bit of detail about whats on the road and whats gone MIA. There's very little ownership detail, although I have included a column where forum names can be included. I suspect anything more detailed than this treads on the toes of the data protection police

Headline numbers of logged cars:

I'm aware there are other data bases out there, but whether they are up to date I'd have no idea. If anyone has access to data, historic or up to date, I'd love to get it consolidated. Drop me a PM if you can assist or join me in managing this register.

If your cars appeared in a photo on this site or TLF in the last couple of years, there's a good chance I've included your registration already, but would love to hear from you via PM or email with Chassis numbers and anything else interesting or relevant about your car. Alternatively, if you're planning on attending the Resto show, bring your details along and we can add them at the show.
Don't just think about your daily runner. If you have or have had a donor car, recording that on the register will +allow it to show as "scrapped". Fortunately, Lotus wrote the chassis number on many trim parts, so even without a reg number, I can enter it in the register in it's correct place.

Finally, I don't want this to be a one way information flow. I'm sure many of us would like to know where our cars sit in the order of running cars ref MY. The known oldest, newest, reddist, highest / lowest mileage Etc.
Whether we share openly the whole spread sheet can be debated, but I plan to attend the Resto show for at least one of the days and will bring the sheet and a laptop along for viewing. I'm sure we can arrange this access for the whole show.

So over to you. Any information gratefully received.
Tony

Thanks for the reminder Stu. I have a copy of your sheet, but you've reminded me I hadn't raided it for reg nos I don't already have. Will be a good source of more cars. - more work 😩.
There's now over 300 on the sheet. I hit a golden source with the Glenmarch Web site that records auction results. Many auctions state chassis numbers which is great.

Not sure I've seen your SA picture though.

Heres an SA that has ceased to be, expired, gone to meet its maker (colin), snuffed it, etc.

E1 NMK in the SA images is a manual - I tried to view it in 2015. It was for sale for a fair old time, and was quite expensive when I was looking for an Excel - It had come down in price as well.

You can see the advert in the WayBack machine - http://web.archive.org/web/201501051449 ... cel-se-115 Some nice photos.

Thanks for the update. I think you're the second to point that out I'll need to redo the montage

Hi,
The Lotus Excel E1 NMK is my car!
Here is a list of different number plates it has had.
52 HP and 7 HP 1987 to 2012 same owner.
E1 NMK 2012 to 2019
E660 YTO 2019 to 2021
D9 EXL 2021 to present day
Thanks for the research and link.
History I can add to my car.
Loving the car, gets better every day I drive it.
30,000 miles on the clock now.
I saw this Excel on Ebay couple of years ago, they lead me down the path of excellence.

I have pictures of this one if interested.

Thanks Don. That's one heck of a number plate history.
I've got a number of plate cars that are no longer hits on the DVLA site. I'll look later. With luck, your history will answer some questions .

I'll pop an updated summary shortly. Will also take a PC to the NEC on the Sat and Sunday, so be good if anyone can drop by with some further data.
