It's Monaco white with red 1/2 leather.
I've owned it since 1989.
SORN since 2007, but nothing wrong with it.

Just letting you know that we have lost a Eclat. A Club Lotus Staffs member had a garage fire possibly caused by a freezer. It completely destroyed 2 classics including the Eclat and damaged a third. His house was also slightly damaged. The reg was XNG688S, blue newly enlarged to 2.2 litre.

Terrible news. Must be devastating when such things happen.
This wasn't on the register, but I'll add. If you know the owner and could ask what the chassis / engine numbers were it would be good please Phil. do you know if the 2.2 L engine was the original bored and stroked or a replacement?

I noticed in one of the pictures, the blue Excel on the top right, reg no. F110ECK belongs to Jay Emm and can be seen on Youtube.

but surely not the third party liabilty, which probably is a bit iffy for a non MOT'd car ?
But maybe it is part of a collection under an umbrella policy

This was sold a fair while ago to another TLF member. He also had another Excel (white) - a V8 conversion. Pictures are no longer on TLF, so have no more info than that.

That's an interesting last paragraph in the provenance letter.
Series 1 starts at 0100D and runs to 0956D + 0960D. That would equate to only 857 Series 1 Eclat's.
Page 28 of Matthew Vales Enthusiasts guide concludes 1,296, although he does state this is an average of a number of varying sources.
That's quite a big difference though.
Anyone with an Eclat willing to share the VIN plate I'd appreciate hearing from you via PM. I've got a good number of V plate Eclat's on the register but don't know VIN's.
The latest VIN I do have is 0800D, which I believe was built March 79. - It's the T plate car currently for sale on Ebay at £15K.

It doesn't include left hand drive Eclat's. I assume Matthew Vale included all Eclat's.

Question time.
Anyone know if any LHD Excels were actually made. Without exports to America, I'm sure demand would be low.
Back to Matthew Vales book, it states 2158 as best guess total production. Taking the difference between first and last UK destined serial numbers, I get 1993 RHD cars. Possible I suppose that the other 165 are RHD exports to countries that drive on the correct side of the road - or a mix of exported Left and right hand drive.
