I know it's a long shot, but if you don't ask......
I'm after an SE steering rack. Ideally this would be one that is known to be in good working order, but fine if it needs re-conditioning (although obviously it needs to be in a re-conditionable state!)

Re: SE Steering rack
Hi Shaun,
Did you see the one on eBay?
I think it was owned by someone who was on this forum.

Re: SE Steering rack
I think the Granada's steering rack may have been the starting point, but with modifications.
Just like the Elan & Europa used Triumph (Alford & Alder) racks, but with Lotus modifications. You can use a Spitfire rack to make an Elan/ Europa rack (and some Sevens), 'IF' you have the necessary, no longer available, Lotus parts.
Is that also the way it is for the Excel/ Granada racks?

Tim Engel

Re: SE Steering rack
If you mean the 'Steve Strange' one from a car they are breaking, yes i have. Looks a bit of a state and 130 quid would nearly bag me a reconditioned one. (though whether a reconditioned one is a good idea or not is up.for debate!)

The racks are modified Ford Sierra.
Im looking for a known good one really to prove or disprove that my reconditioned rack that is on the car currently is faulty

Re: SE Steering rack
Ford Granada/sierra/P100 BUT with longer track rod ends.
Thought I had 2 of these on the shelf but when clarified in the books checking the pipework they were non-variable rate racks.
