Indicator stalk

Post by Pete Boole »

Hi Guys

Does anyone have a spare pre-'86 (non-Toyota) indicator stalk they'd like to part with?

Thanks

Pete

It needs to be one that sits on the left of the steering wheel. If I use the Elite originals I will be operating the wipers at every junction!!

Pretty sure it's not any sort of Mini - they look similar but the Mini ones are all mounted onto a steel plate. The Excel ones clamp directly to the steering column. It would be great if someone knows which other cars used the same stalk. The Triumph 2000 looks to be the closest?

A survey run around at the NEC said 2000 and stag IIRC . For the indicator, there is a known weakness with a small piece that breaks or falls out. Cant remember which but if you get a replacement of similar BL type, you can transplant the part back in.

Allegro Mk3 visually identical. Might require some minor wiring alterations, but otherwise.....
Kind regards

yes I would say triumph 2000 or stag. my old 74 2500 had same stalks as my eclat did, even down to "flashing" the wiper stalk to make it wipe once.
If you need a set, try a triumph specialist called Chris Witor. He used to keep lots of spares at good prices.

I notice that the Elite/Eclat/Excel interchange spreadsheet on Lotusforums shows the indicator stalk/switch as "Lucas 119SA 30493 Triumph spitfire (1977 - 1980), Stag mk1" so that matches with the suggestions so far.

If it's correct, looks like quite a good resource - should we have link to it on lotusexcel.net?

Thanks very much Tezzan - but don't forget I'm looking to replace the original indicator/wiper stalks with later ones that are on the opposite sides to the 1974 originals - ie with the indicator stalk on the left! I'm bound to continuously operate the wipers at junctions otherwise!!
