Thanks for heads up.
That interior :o = neglected car. My search goes on but thank you to all in here who are helping me to find my right car.
Having said that and now reflecting, the underside looks good condition, to bring the car back how much would it cost roughly speaking, to have a complete re-trim in leather ? Thanks.

A couple of years back, a price of around £5k was mentioned to me by a well know Midlands specialist.
Id expect a better price though if you went direct to the trimmer.
Farmer Richard seemed to have to have found a decent small business in Hinckley recently. I'm sure he'll be in touch with details.

I had a quote for £2.5k - but that was for a 1/2 leather replacement with a leather/alacantra mix. Same chap replaced my carpets, I never seem to be able to get around to it as other things get in the way. https://cartrim.webs.com/

Car Interior in Hinckley. Don't bother looking for a website, he doesn't have one, but if you google you'll find his 'phone number. Charges a very reasonable £30/hr for however long it takes. Be prepared to wait a couple of months for him to have availability to do your job! Cost me £1,300 to have all 4 seats recovered, labour only (I provided fabric and leather I sourced from Martrim). Re-trimming other leather parts - door cards, trim panels, dash - no idea how long that would take or cost, but is that necessary in this car (I haven't looked at the sale pictures)? He did a great job.

I did find another couple of businesses close-ish to me (in Northamptonshire) that were a similar price, and similarly long wait times, so my guy is not atypical.

Many thanks farmer richard for information. I have now received a few more images of the car that I am considering.
Looks like the car will need a major service with cam belt, last service seems to have been 2015 not many miles since though.

I'd do that no matter what the car history says, so that you have a date that you know is correct. Tyres as well - maybe

Mine was 16 years previous to purchase, but "only" 3000 miles ago, will be fine, honest guv, said the dealer. Also had 4 different makes of tyre.

ETA - check it has sun visors :) I didn't and it hadn't (not something I thought to look for)

Just to update, after much thought I de cited to pass on this particular Excel, therefore my search will continue. I was warned that it co7ld be some time before the ‘right car’ for me pops up.
I remain grateful for all the guidance and leads thus far :)

Yes it’s looks like a decent car especially at the asking price. Sounds like I’m making an excuse but it’s 430 miles away from me and I would need to have a look at it prior to thoughts to buy. I would need to factor in about £1200 on top of price to see it and get it home. That’s some % on top of price, so I may need to wait for more local, that is within 2 or three hundred miles if not around the corner.
If a really exceptional Excel came up I would be prepared to travel anywhere in U.K. but not, and no disrespect to seller, an OK car.
