I had a 3 core rad re-cored, fuel cost with drive to MK to collect, Cheltenham twice to drop and collect, repair cost would be cheaper to buy straight from LB.

Couple of miles to my local place. No fuel to speak of as would prob use company car and no postage.

I also want a spare so I can look at them making an ally one without me loosing Loti for any length of time. B

My old standard 2 core is badly corroded on lower member so is destined for the bin. Stop me if you want it saving.

Boston Radiators in your area recored my 3 core rad a couple of years back:

http://www.ilincolnshire.co.uk/profile/ ... vices-Ltd/

To start with, I had an exchange one from them, but it was a triple core in a double frame, which didn't fit very well. In fairness the guy hadn't seen how it fitted in the car and wasn't to know.

I ended up having my own triple core one recored, which was fine - I would advise doing that in the first instance and at least you know it will all fit back together.

Depending how tightly your rad side tanks are wedged in the ducting (mine were pretty tight), you might want to ask if he could recore it 1/4" narrower; I did and it made it much easier to refit.
Bryan,
Thanks for the reply last week. When I get a chance I will whip the old one out and take it across.

I finally got around to taking the radiator out. Easier than expected. Popped into Boston to drop it off as it is close to work and it seems Boston Radiators is now a gym.... It seems that there is now a Lincoln Radiators opened so I will drop it off there this weekend and see how good their service is.

Recon radiator back in but I cannot remember what held the fan shroud to to the radiator - and whatever it was I have misplaced them. Any help appreciated so I can get the right bits or it will be stainless bolts.

Thanks

Thanks.
It can't have been rivets as I would remember the pain of drilling them out. I will get some blind/flat nuts and screw back in.

Is there enough room for rivnuts?

A great option as long as you have the rivnut tool. :D

I don't think there would be enough room for the extra width required. It isn't actually too hard to get at so a flat / square / blind nut should be fine. Will see what I can find in Halfords tonight.

I used rectangular flat spire nuts from Halfords, there wasn't quite enough space to use the clip type that fit over the edge of the rad. I screwed the cowl to the rad out of the car, then used some silicon sealant to hold the spire nuts in place. Once it was dry, I removed the cowl, the spire nuts remained in the correct position. I then fitted the radiator from under the car, and the fan cowl from the top. Refitted the screws which then locate in the spire nuts - job done.
