Eclat/Excel restoration

Post by Tanz »

John who is a member of Club Lotus Staffordshire (that I help to run) has recently restored an early Eclat / Excel. His aim was to keep the outside looking as original as possible but make some improvements to make the car more usable and to his own taste. Here are a few pictures I took at the Lullington show last Sunday.

John wasn't keen on the original early dash so fitted the later dash but I think with the early dials.
Also the fuel pipes to the carbs are interesting. I think he said that is a Lotusbits kit/solution to replacing the original pipes.

Looks like the full leather later interior. Nice to see a well done early car.

I did similar, black braided SS/teflon. Ran mine more similar to the original and added some spiral nylon to prevent chafing of the carb tops. An AN 'T' and 'L' to create the 'F' shape of the original.

Very nicely presented car. Love the color
