Lotus Elite Luggage

Post by Tanz »

A friend of mine that used to own an Elite back in the 70's has recently discovered the suitcases that came with the car. The Elite was a 1975 car and bespoke luggage was an option for £61. This car was used by Lotus for emissions tests for the US market. The car was sold but the luggage was left in the loft. They are for sale on ebay if anyone fancies them.

Wow what a find! And what an addition for someone’s Elite
The Lotus Eclat, a lot like the English Whisky company: comes from Norfolk and better than you are often told it is.

But... How much would it cost to have some made ?, And, if this had been for a posh fiat (ferrari) how much would they have cost ? I actually am really pleased that someone has paid proper money for these its a good indicator of how much they love their car, and no, it wasn't me.
Bash (how much ?)
Ps, elite projects were going for that sort of money not so very long ago, values are on the up.

I do agree Bash - I just hope the cars remain within the financial reach of mere mortals!

My friends son was emptying the loft and was going to put the luggage in the skip! Good job my friend spotted them and knew what they were.

:?: Do they also fit into other Lotus?

Might alternatively explain the bidding war if the winner is a 70's Esprit owner, say?

Incredible price. The eBay link will disappear eventually, so here's three of the twelve photos posted:

Be showing up next with that lass on the Repair Shop.
Now that would be a neat trick if you could pull it off. She seems to achieve miracles with leather restoration.
Just a shame for someone that 5th case is not there. Still I wouldn't say no, but not sure I can attach that sort of price tag to the value.

There not even leather. Some kind of leather substitute. Don't know where the briefcase went.

Guys
just a thought
how many people would want a set on luggage that fits?.....
I know the sizes for the cases but I'm not sure a floppy sided case works.....
we could get the bags made in the correct size
I spoke to one company who could do them at about £400 for a full set of 4 in vinyl.......
theyd be the same size as the originals just not with expanding sides and belting

thoughts????

if there's no interest I'll not ask the bag guys any more questions.....
my initial question was purely just out of curiosity to see how much it'd cost....having just seen them go for over £700 on ebay......
