I'll be there, travelling up from Newbury the day before, via Oxford / Bedford / St.Neots.

When I'm not driving, I do funerals, as a Humanist funerals celebrant.
Does anyone know if Oliver a) had any religion b) had a favourite colour?

If we happened to be parked up when the funeral cortege passes, and it's not inappropriate or too cheesey, we could consider retracting the cars' headlights, along the lines of the famous dockers' cranes salute to Churchill's cortege in 1965: https://youtu.be/6kPrTWsotlg

Hi Simon,

Good to hear you’ll be joining us. The family want any Oliver cars to join a guard of honour behind the cortège so will you join us? Address and postcode of the place we should meet is in one of my messages above - we need to be there by 11.30. We’ll follow the funeral cars and the cars will wait outside during the service.

Regarding the funeral, it is Christian and C of E I think. As for Oliver’s favourite colour, I’m not sure but he was often to be seen in red trousers!

So you will be staying in/near Wymondham on Wednesday night? If so we don’t need to count you in to any en route rendezvous plans.

Cheers, Richard

Stu. Would your best route take you via Bedford?. If not, sure it will pass just north of Cambridge on A14?
Shortest for me is via Kettering, then A14 all the way, but Bedford only adds 10 minutes.

Either route is same for me. Google has 2mins the difference between Bedford or Kettering

My number is in PM
Stu, if you travel on A14 via Kettering you can join Tony and I at Cambridge services. Otherwise if you want to go via St Neots we could meet at the services on the A11 near Thetford instead. Let us know what you want to do.

Richard : I presume you are referring to the services near Boxworth, CB23 4WU for a meet at 10:00.
I'll leave N'pton at 9:00 on that basis, going A45, then A14 from Thrapston.
Stu : If you decide to come Kettering /Wellingborough way, let me know and maybe we can arrange an earlier meet point.

Probably Tony - all I know is that it is signposted as such and is off the new A1/A14 stretch north of Cambridge.

I’ll be coming across on the A14 from the M6 so could make an earlier stop if you and Stu prefer?

In that case, if it suits Stu, the Brampton Hut Services would be best. PE28 4NQ.
They are right on the junction of the A1 and A14. - and to the left of the A14, so easier to get into than the one I mentioned earlier. Just before the new Huntington By-pass with new shiny Tar-Mac :D :D
Should take about 1 hour 25 from there, so meeting around 9:30 ? Away by 9:50

A 400 mile wintery round trip to say farewell to Ollie now complete.

A highways diversion was the main culprit (not for the miles :D that was due to wrong post code in the lead car !).

You all did him proud - some great photos on the various other sites.

Nice to see my old car in the lineup.

Just had an email from Sara, Oliver’s sister asking me to pass on the family’s thanks for everyone who brought cars. They were very touched and impressed by the turnout.

That postcode, by the way, was (a) not responsible for the mud on Stu’s car and (b) was Winterbottom family misinformation. I suspect Ollie was up there having a good larf!

Having seen photos elsewhere it looked a fitting tribute.
It also made it into the local news -
