2000Kg is pretty light for an electric, especially for an SUV with that sort of range. Our Porsche Taycan (not an SUV!) is a hair under 2,400kg. And they have the same 0-60.

I can't say I aspire to own an Eletre. The front of the car is pretty ugly in my opinion. Having said that if this is what the market demands I say good luck to Lotus if it keeps car output at a profitable level and allows them to make sports cars too.

I think there's a bit of a popular misconception that every product Lotus makes has to weigh as much as a paper napkin or it's not a Lotus. Surely the Lotus ethos was to make a product as light as possible so, for example, if Lotus developed a biz jet it might weigh 4 tonnes as opposed to a similar jet weighing in at 5 tonnes.

I'm grateful Lotus is still here plugging on against all odds. The sad fact is if it were up to the British Lotus would just be one of those lamented marques that vanished decades ago.

Maybe some sort of promotional event was going on in SW Northumberland yesterday but I saw 2 different Eletres on the road yesterday. They looked huge

Had a very close look at the Notts lotus meeting yesterday. Its very well made and finished, and huge yes, but the owner also has a sensible Evora. The wheels and brake discs were enormous on thier own but I can see problems there eventually because they reported that most slowing down was using the regeneration system so I can see big bills for seized calipers at some point.
Had two excessive portals too.
Not my cup of tea but it was well liked by the owners and I suppose that's the point, it wouldn't do if we as people were all the same would it.
Thanks to the dedicated Lotus owners though who brought it along.

Size and weight... well, we'll just have to console ourselves that it is more "Lotus" than the other big, heavy, luxo-SUVs out there. And (hopefully) is earning some money!

I was disappointed when I read Paul's email about the Eletre attending the meet. I'd not seen one yet and really fancied a closer look. They're not something for me, but from what I read and hear it's a very good vehicle (although poor range), if not your typical Lotus. I still want the Lotus name to survive if they're making interesting vehicles, even if not for me.
Coincidentally I did end up seeing my first one over the weekend, one passed me on the M25 around 8pm on Sunday night. I didn't catch it on it's approach but from behind it did look properly large. The registration was AM08LOT, so I'm assuming a Lotus enthusiast. I wonder if the registration had been on an Evora or Elise previously.
