Well I ordered mine (red) in summer and it hasn't turned up yet. I get emails every month to say it's on back order. Paid only £1 holding deposit so far. ☹️

Maybe the first batch was faulty as described and so they can't complete my order at the full price. The faulty ones being sold off cheaper. I won't accept the upsidedown Lotus roundel at full price that's for sure.
I have a red one on order too, from Grand Prix Models. I've emailed them explaining the badge issue and asked if they were aware of it. I would certainly rather wait and have a correctly detailed model.

Can I ask, if buying one of the "cheap" models from Europe, do we have to factor in a tax hit from HMG ? I'm sure I can fix the badges. Thanks, Jeff.

The model cost just over the £135 threshold, so I expected to pay 20% VAT, but the parcel cleared customs non-stop. Was it a result of a mistake, changed policy or simple luck? I don't know I'm afraid.

The dealer I bought from replied to me this morning saying that "My supplier had not yet received any messages about the reverse decals. They will order new decals from the manufacturer and then send them to me. They say these are very easy to install. I don't know how long it will take but we are working on it.

I had the following response from Grand Prix Models today:

Thank you for your email. I have just checked with Cult Scale Models and can confirm the fault is on all production. Luckily for us, our delivery is currently awaiting customs clearance and so we have not passed the error on to any of our customers. I am told that the factory is busy reprinting the badge decals and will be forwarding by express soonest. Upon receipt, we will be able to make the corrections here before dispatching the models to our customers.

I thank you for alerting me to this issue and I hope for your patience so that we may delivery to you the model you expect.

Regards,

Andre

So good news for those who've ordered from GPM.

I bit the bullet and ordered a green one from Italy via EBay. Just under £150 inc. postage. Will keep you posted. Jeff.

Model arrived this morning, more than pleased with it, (despite Australian spec. Lotus badges). There was no tax hit, perhaps the list price was under the limit, now to put the Essex Esprit Turbo on EBay, (unless someone here is interested?). Jeff.

Jeff, what do Australian Lotus badges look like?

I'm expecting my order to have British badges.

It's been a long wait for mine btw. Original ETA was September.

I'm assuming that Jeff is referring to the fact that all the models delivered so far seem to have their Lotus badge on upside down.

The retailer didn't respond to my message about the badges being upside-down, nor to the chaser but I mailed the distributor who are sending the re-printed badges.

Just paid for mine in response to their 'now in stock' invoice\email.

Has anyone any bright ideas about producing number plate stickers\transfers of ones own reg to replace the stock reg plate. I have an electronic dymo tape machine which uses either white or yellow tape, and the font size is selectable. Main issue is that the white tape font tends to fade to brown in sunlight.

Any other ideas?

Look at model shops online. They make scale number plates

That's brilliant! Thank you. Ideal solution.

I'll wait until the car arrives before ordering, just to double check that the stated scale sizes match.

I wonder how difficult it would be to convert to a pre 88 model ?
