Instalation of High Torque Starter Motor

Post by DavidOliver »

I have recently bought a high torque starter motor from SJS and fitted it including removing the Air Box for better access.
When replacing the air box I could not clamp the outer half (filter holder) to the inner half as the lower left hand clamp was obstructed by the new starter motor.
I have found a solution which is to reverse the position of the clamp and retaining clip, the clamp is now where the retaining clip used to be. This only required drilling two holes in the air box to accomodate different hole spacing between clamp and clip.

This might help other installers of the High torque Starter Motor.

The problem I found with my high torque starter, which I think was from there too, was the need for different bolts. Would have been nice if they were included, but not the end of the world. I also needed to make up a new alternator lead as the old one could not quite reach the positive post.
