Mileage Issue

Post by Will49 »

My 10989 Excel SA, F135 RPL, finally arrived and it must be said its a bit worse than I had hoped but given it was bought unseen ...
There are only two electrical issue one being a none functioning AC and the drivers swindow not workinf so not too bad.
The underside is a horror and will need a full suspension and brake rebuild.
Wrong size tyres as well 205 instead of 215's

Now the mileage issue i have is that going by bills and MOT sequensce she had in 2014 at the MOT 20,803 miles which for a 25 year old car was amazing. the issue is that for the next MOT she had 97,253 miles. So did she really do 76450 miles between those two MOT's?

Any thoughts anybody on this conumbrum ?

Cheers

Will

Speedo change? Other than that it’s just a matter of looking at old MOT’s, history, receipts for parts, ie tyres etc which will give a clue as to usage and contacting previous owners and the like.
Good Luck

Tyres, the 215s were unavailable for a long time so best practice was 205s )as 225s were too wide and rubbed)

Mileage is the last of your problems. I'd be more worried about getting in !!!

Is that a coincidence or what?

But seriously, looking at DVLA MOT history, it looks to me like it had a replacement clock fitted in 2014. In 2006, it shows as 4702, which I'd suggest is more likely 104702.
My best guess is mileage is around 125K (the figure from 2014, plus the mileage since), but as already said, check your paperwork thoroughly for other evidence.

Many cars look pretty horrible underneath, but that doesn't necessarily mean the bushes and shocks are tired.
What does it drive like?

Just look at what bills I have with mileage on them
12.8.05 - 2401 miles
13.9.05 - 2981 miles
5.5.07 - 7794 miles
MOT history
2006 - 4702
2007 - 7794
2008 - 10845
2009 - 12590
2010- 13255
2011- 13,417
2012 - 15139
2013 - 17997
2014- 20803
2015- 97253
2023 at 100,275 miles - she has done 3022 miles according to the MOT history since 2015.
Going by her condition she must a 100k car but who knows.

Anybody in the club ever ownerd her I wonder?
