My Excel SA, just bought, has 205/15 tyres which were bought in 2021 with zip mileage on them but they are made in China and a brand I have never heard of so I want to get the proper sey tyres by a known brand if possible.
215/15R 15 VR by Vredestien for £233 plus VAT each. They say they fit Excel's as well at Audi Quatros.
215/50R 15 Pirelli P700-Z for £279 plus VAT each
There are aso Toyo Proxes TR1 215/45 R15 84V which are only some £88 plus VAT. so what would be the impact of a 50 to a 45 profile.
Comments appreciated ?

I have Vredestein Sportrac 205/55 15s on my Excel - and although Vredestein show them on their website, I'm not sure that you can get them in the UK any more.

Re: 215 Tyres
Hi Will, I'd suggest using a site the below to compare the tyres. I'd suggest going 215/45 is a bad idea as it will be significantly smaller, if you use the comparison function of this sit it warns to not go a factor of more than 3% based on a certain calculation, and the 45s come out as 9.7%, 205/50 come out at 4.6%, but going up to205/55 is at 5% so the closest is 205/50.

Re: 215 Tyres
I'm running 4x 215/45/15 Toyos on my 89SE.
I first had reservations about the reduction in rolling radius when many years ago Jerry (MRCOOLA) fitted 215/45 Toyos to his uprated (245 bhp?) Excel SE.
Jerry insisted they were OK. I only half believed him, as indeed you will only half believed me when I report that 225/45 are OK.
My positive findings are; the much better torque transfer to the road makes it feel more like a diesel from the lights; easier to spin the rears at will; acceleration improved everywhere; ground clearance reduction equals better aero; I fitted them myself and they went on easy; they look fairly sporty.
My negative findings are; spoiler rubber skirt grounds more on local speed bumps; 70 mph (sat nav) is around 3400 rpm rather than ~3200 rpm on the previous 205/50. It used to be more like ~3100 rpm on 215/50.
Ride quality @ 26 psi isnt bad at all, despite smaller side walls.

Re: 215 Tyres
You have to host the photos on an external cloud site, like oneDrive. There is an explanation on how to do photo hosting on this forum somewhere IIRC?

Re: 215 Tyres
According to TOYO Spec sheet for TR!s, a 205/50/15 has a width of 214mm so IF correct, then near the OEM.
